Being the main entrance gate in Fuerteventura, El Matorral (FUE) Airport sees thousands of tourists arriving on the island each year. The airport is located 5 kilometres south of Puerto del Rosario, the capital of the island, and it has excellent connections to some major international and national destinations alike. By means of FUE, people can benefit from continuous flights to or out of Fuerteventura from/to virtually all over Europe (and chiefly West Europe). Almost 50 airlines companies service this airport, but the venue is fully endowed with virtually all facilities and services able to make passengers moments at the airport as pleasant and as comfortable as possible.
The airport hosts, for instance, a tourist information office, several duty-free shops, restaurants and coffee shops, a pharmacy and several ATMs. It also provides banking services and facilities for people with reduced mobility. The presence of car hire operators goes without saying, whereas in terms of airport transfers, in the proximity of the airport there are taxis and buses to shuttle visitors from the airport to virtually any spot on the island. The bottom line is FUE is one of the most modern airports of the Canary Islands and a leading force in respect to the constant progress of standards of proficiency in terms of airport services and facilities.
